Sapped Out
Brett Favre, the Green Bay Packer legend and no-brainer hall of famer, tearfully called it quits the other day in front of hordes of media. O-kaaaaaaaay, we got the memo. Sadly, Warren Sapp's retirement happened in the same week, meaning this Canton-bound player is getting greatly overshadowed. But that's the funny thing about this story 'cuz, on the field, no one ever overshadowed the 6-2, 300-pound defensive tackle- especially when he was in his prime. Those years in Tampa Bay, in fact, were some of the finest any lineman has ever had. A seven-time Pro Bowler, a Super Bowl hero and a bonafide tough ass, opposing offensive coordinators had sleeping disorders because of #99. As age began catching up to the man with 96.5 career sacks, his numbers and level of intimidation nosedived. Last year, Sapp had only two sacks with the struggling Oakland Raiders. Now that he's called it a career, he can finally take a load off... that is until it's time for him and Brett to walk up to the podium and make their induction speeches for the Football Hall of Fame.
