Don't Sleep...

The just-named Atlanta Dream haven't played one half of WNBA basketball and I'm already talking championship for the city. Like they say on The Secret, you've got to first visualize it for it to happen later. This is my vision. If head coach Marynell Meadors follows these five simple steps, the Dream could be living one as league champs within two or three seasons.

1. Pick UGA sensation Tasha Humphries in the April draft.

2. Complement the hard-working forward with a cast of solid role players who are hungry and determined not to let the tag "expansion team" be a crutch or an excuse for losing.

3. For confidence sake, finish with the WNBA's third- or fourth-worst record; just not the absolute ugliest record. With the talent in college and the decent players available in the expansion draft, bottom feeding is no longer acceptable.

4. Even with the odds against Atlanta, get the first pick in the WNBA draft. With that lofty selection, choose Tennessee superstar Candace Parker.

5. Still, with Parker and Humphries as the centerpieces, league bullies like the Detroit Shock and Phoenix Mercury will underestimate the team. Play slightly better than .500 ball during the regular season. Squeak into the playoffs. That's where the Dream becomes the rest of the WNBA's worst nightmare.

I've heard people wondering about when "nightmare" will be used to describe the team -- I think your's is the best way!
