The Longest Yard

Minnesota Viking Adrian Peterson's NFL record-setting day (296 yards!) this past Sunday not only solidified the running back's rookie of the year selection, it gave Vikes' fans a reasonable amount of firepower in their "Adrian for MVP" campaign. Sure, Tom Brady and Brett Favre have been amazing this season, but each QB has a reasonably decent supporting cast helping out along the way. In AD's case, most folks can't even name another Minnesota Viking, let alone one who's been doing anything worth mention.

Sidenote: For my math geeks out there, if you were wondering exactly how far 296 yards gets ya, the answer is pretty far. In fact, if you combine Peterson's total with Arkansas running back Darren McFadden's SEC record-tying 321 yards from last Saturday, you have a whopping 617 yards. That's 1,851 feet. That's over one-third a mile. That's one unbelievable weekend of running.
