BOSTON GLEE PARTY
They're called the Minutemen, but at this very second, the University of Massachusetts' football team, 5-1 and ranked No. 4 in the FCS poll, can't get the time of day from Boston-area sports fans. The reason for the slight, while totally unintentional, is easily explained- there's just TOO much good going on around the city's sports scene to keep up with everything. Need proof? Take a look at what New England supporters were treated to just this past weekend:
-The beloved Red Sox battled the Cleveland Indians to a 1-1 ALCS series tie at Fenway Park.
-The unbeaten Patriots (6-0), thanks to another stellar Tom Brady performance behind center, went down to Dallas and destroyed the NFC's best team 48-27, thus solidifying their spot as the team to beat the rest of the regular season.
-Boston College (7-0) whipped struggling rival Notre Dame 27-14. The Matt Ryan-led Golden Eagles are comfortably perched at the No. 3 spot in the latest AP poll.
-The new-look Celtics have tipped off the preseason with a 2-0 start. New power forward Kevin Garnett has scored 28 points and pulled down 22 boards in the two opening wins.
-Even the hapless Bruins have gotten in on all the winning, going 3-2 after the first full week of NHL action.
