Fiesta Bowl

Oklahoma vs. Boise State

January 1, 8PM, Glendale, AZ

FOX

Talk about Boise State’s inferior schedule all you want. But if you really looked at the Broncos’ opponents, it might not seem so cupcake. They played four explosive bowl teams (Oregon State, Hawaii, Utah and Nevada) in the regular season. The undefeated BSU won them all by a combined 157-58. Credit much of that offensive output to running back Ian Johnson, the country’s second-leading rusher in ’06. Don’t worry if you haven’t seen much of Johnson (or anyone else in a Broncos uniform for that matter) this year; you’ll get plenty of chances when he’s in the NFL really soon. Same goes for Oklahoma’s Adrian Peterson, an amazing tailback who missed two months of action with a broken collarbone. He’s back now. That fact, coupled with the Sooners’ grueling defense (they held six opponents to 10 points or less), should make this Fiesta Bowl one to remember. Boise State, 24-21, in a surprising classic.

Interesting fact: Talk about pressure. The Broncos are the first Western Athletic Conference team to make it to a BCS bowl.
