Texas Bowl

Rutgers vs. Kansas State

December 28, 8PM, Houston

If this were August and you said Rutgers would be 10-2 and playing in a late December bowl game, folks could have been well within their rights to have you hauled off to an insane asylum. Sure, they had come off a semi-respectable 7-5 ’05 tilt, but nobody saw the Scarlet Knights coming like they did this year—especially not Ohio U, Navy and Louisville, three other ’06 bowl teams that star Rutgers running back Ray Rice and Co. simply ran over this season. Kansas State (7-5) isn’t crazy though. It knows that if it’s to win its fourth game in five contests it’s got to put a lid on Rice, have exemplary play from freshman QB Josh Freeman and show off a stout kickoff return group. But if you think that’ll be enough to stop a determined Rutgers, you’re completely nuts. 28-17, Knights.

Interesting Fact: This is the Knights first time reaching double-digit wins since 1976.
