Reynolds Wrapped

He wasn'’t the best-known name and he didn't own the most charismatic personality, but baseball analyst Harold Reynolds was an unquestioned asset in ESPN's studio and broadcasting dugout. News that HR, a two-time all-star second baseman with the Seattle Mariners, was let go by the network on Monday should sadden every warm-blooded baseball fan. Somber tone aside, in the minds of Fox Sports and CNN, Reynolds'’ departure is actually quite good as both will likely bid on the insightful Reynolds'’ services before long. ESPN hasn'’t come out and said why the 11-year relationship came to a crashing halt, and we won'’t begin to speculate here. But we do know one thing: No matter how well Karl Ravech and Jeff Brantley bandage things up on the "Baseball Tonight"” set or who fills in at the Little League World Series, they'’re going to miss the sure-handed Harold Reynolds up the middle. And so will we...
