New York’s Shea Stadium has lots of history. So, too, does RFK Stadium in Washington D.C. Still, you could be the founder of digitalballparks.com and know that the dated homes of the Nationals (opened in ’61) and Mets (’64) need Ty Pennington and his Extreme Makeover: Home Edition crew to do a number on the respected fields. Thankfully, each is getting the attention they deserve. Final paperwork and ground-breaking details are still being ironed out on new RFK (’08) and Shea (’09), but early renderings -the Mets park images have black borders; the Nats' are lighter- are already available. Both stadiums appear pretty amazing. The whole right-on-the-water feel at the Ebbets Field-inspired Shea II is kinda hot. Can’t wait to see Met Carlos Delgado and Nat slugger Alfonso Soriano going deep both places.
